Head Over Heels

Weddings are very much a tradition, in a good way. THE dress, a heart-felt ceremony, gorgeous flowers, sparkly rings, delicious cakes. Yes, you can express your personality through these pieces... to an extent. But when it comes to your choice of THE shoes, you can get as creative as you please. From flats to 7" heels to cowboy boots, each girl has the opportunity of expressing herself in a unique way.

The out of control, blingy, crazy busy shoe might be your type.

Or you might be wanting something blue and lacy.

You could go the comfy root and slide into a pair of wedding Toms.

This might be my favorite option, the cowboy boots, Comfortable, fun, and Texas sexy!

Another something blue with a more modern but classy feel.

Any girl absolutely loves her red shoes. What a sassy option!

Or yellow may bring sunshine to you on your big day.

Because this photo is so darn cute, I could't find the shoes for a moment. But man, are those fun! Go Green!

Maybe your a shoe-a-holic and can't pick a favorite. I love this idea of having your bridesmaids wear different colors to match their bouquet.

You may be partial to orange which would be a beautiful color combination for spring and summer weddings.

This option is delicate and sweet. Nude is always tasteful and romantic.

Give yourself a more comfortable option while bringing out the ballerina in you.

Last but definitely not least, this option is stylish and you won't be afraid of falling down the isle.

Happy shoe hunting!

Playing Dress-Up Just Got Delicious

What's sweet, stunning and delicious other than you on your wedding day? Every detail is important on your day, but the cake has its own special importance. The cake is more than just a dessert, it's an art piece. And these cakes make more than a statement. With Extraordinary embellishments, these cakes are inspired by the dress. These desserts get adorned with fabulous flounces, beautiful beading, and more.

This cake resembles a dress that has an airy, light feel. The ruffles are a masterpiece of dampened wafer paper shifted into edible ruffles and pressed into  sweet buttercream icing.

The  fabric displayed as a tablecloth serves as the model for this cake. The four tiers are engulfed in seafoam-green rolled fondant, then decorated with hand-piped royal icing.  The beaded icing "leaves" on each stem are painted with luster dust to add shine.

This enchanting cake takes inspiration for a floral gown. The blooms are shafted from gum paste and attached them to tiers covered in peach-tinted fondant with royal icing.

A gorgeous gown with geometric stitching sets the style for this charming cake created by talented piping skills.  Like all the best fashion statements, it wouldn't be complete without the perfect accessory: favor boxes wrapped in overlapping ribbons.

And THAT takes the cake!

Kate Moss: Whimsical Gatsby Wedding

This past July, Kate Moss and Jamie Hince celebrated their love with a wedding that won't be forgotten. From her hair to the gown, from the bridesmaids and flower girls to the church, feels like you've jumped in a time machine back  to the '20s plus a simplistic, dreamy twist.
I have an obsession with all things white and whimsical. The whole wedding day looks so clean and looks like it came right out of a story book!
There are sixteen bridesmaids and flower girls, ages two to fourteen. Kate Moss' eight-year-old daughter, Lila Grace is included in the sixteen.

The dress is form-fitting, spangled with tiny golden paillettes. The skirt contains most of the detail that symbolizes a mythical phoenix. Her veil is the perfect touch that matches the creamy gown perfectly.

At the idyllic church, there are arranged low banks of pale, feathery greenery and white flowers such as delphiniums, daisies and scabious, lining the path to the church door.
The effect is enchanting and reminds me of the iconic movie, The Sound of Music.

The dining pavilion is lit by Victorian chandeliers, and 1920s silver ashtrays nestle on the tabletops among pale apricot and lilac roses, while sofas flank the dance floor for a little from dancing the night away.

The cake has six cakes, each a different flavor, with delicate droplets of icing is simply stunning.

Can you feel the love?

Where the Flowers are the Stars, Table Linens Create the Stage

Flowers bring your special day to life. But just flowers only do so much for a table. The table should mimic your color scheme and theme. An unparalleled collection of table linens, overlays, chair covers, napkins and more will be needed to really make those flowers pop! The linens  should blend with the colors of your floral table arrangements and pull the room together. Complimented with unusual napkins and enhancements your table setting will stand out as you get your first glimpse.  Here are a few examples that I completely feel in love with.

This table setting has a West feel to it. The combination of cactus and flowers goes beautifully with the natural looking table runner.

The colors in this table arrangement really fly out at you. With the soft and neutral table runner and the room, the green, yellow, and red take over.

This gorgeous table example has Autumn colors and a touch of whimsical. The deep reds, oranges, yellows (with the touch of lights in the trees) really bring out this outdoor reception.

This final table setting has a winter white wedding feel to it. The shimmery silver of the table cloth lets the romantic tree with lights really stand out.

7 Valentines Wedding & Bridal Shower Inspirations

It goes without saying that Valentines day is made for couples in love. What a better way to celebrate? If you're having a wedding/engagement party/bridal shower around this wonderfully mushy day, might as well break out that red, pink and white with these fabulous ideas.

1. Decorate all out in red, pink and white like this gorgeous photo on the left. So whimsical and romantic, right?

2. Or  create a budget friendly center piece that is dainty and dreamy, like the photo on the right.
3. I absolutely love this idea. Reese Witherspoon's country-chic wedding is rustic and comfortable. Exposed to the outdoors and protected by a tent is a truly beautiful idea.

4. White is my favorite color for so many reasons. If you love white too, add a little color by popping in purple lighting to set the mood.

5. Incorporate this fun color theme in your bouquet. Flowers is another Valentines day classic!

6. Three words- chocolate covered strawberries. Nothing says Valentines day like this fun food idea.

7. If you choose not to go all out in this decor, it's an excuse to wear a pair of red shoes! XOXO

Austin, TX- Get Ready to ROAR

I have a love affair with my hair. I spend more time on my hair during my daily getting ready routine. It's what determines how my day is going to go. Fabulous hair = fabulous day. Bad hair = don't talk to me. And the more southern, the better. Paula Dean once said, "The bigger the hair, the closer to God." That's definitely this Amarillo girl's motto.

I have been craving change. But I didn't know what. I have been going to Roar salon in Austin, TX for quite some time. But I never had the guts to say anything different to my stylist, Lauren Dewalt. Yesterday, she figured out I wasn't quite satisfied with my tired long style. With a little push, she convinced me to cut my hair to my shoulders. This is a big change. Totally different style. Seeing Lauren cut long pieces of hair kept me on the edge of my seat. But, I love it. Shorter but romantic, very mature and sexy. Lauren Dewalt has so much precision for cutting hair and passion for making it perfect for her clients. Cutting hair "is like painting a picture or sculpting," explains Lauren, "You have a vision from the beginning, but the final creation comes as you go." She told me she was thrilled to finally cut my hair and told me that loving such a new change will take a little time. But I am already envisioning how to style this new doo of mine.

The way you wear your hair on your wedding day is, personally, as big of deal as what you're prancing down the isle in. Wether you know exactly what style you want or have no earthly idea, with the help of Lauren Dewalt and Rory Mcneill, fabulous owner with an expertise in color, you can have the absolute perfect look for you. With too many awards to count, such as best salon, best colorist, best service and best cut , Roar is definitely where you want to get beautiful on your big day. Roar has created hair masterpieces for Austin Fashion Week 2011 and is featured in top Austin Magazines such as Tribeza, Rare Magazine and Austin Monthly.
